This sunday afternoon, GG Yorkies were invited to use their long run or bike to get all the way out to Wigginton to help St Nicholas church clear some leaves.

Tom and Barbara got to work on the grass verge outside the church wall, while Vicky and Cara started clearing around the grave stones. Meanwhile, our host, John showed Leanne the facilities which included hot drinks and biscuits for later.

Max arrived a little late, but we let him off as he was the only one who chose to run instead of cycle there. He got stuck in with raking leaves into piles for others to pick up with their leaf claws.

The two one-tonne-capacity sacks we were given quickly filled to the brim with crisp, dry leaves which were difficult to compact. With Tom's help, Leanne spent most of the time climbing into the bags and jumping and stamping them down until some more space appeared (and sometimes while more leaves were poured on top of her).

When all of the bags were filled to the brim, there was nothing left to do but rake the excess leaves into a pile next to a hedge and hope that it was sheltered enough that they wouldn't scatter in the wind.

After a well earned cuppa and biscuit it was time to cycle / run home - with the last few miles completed in the 'refreshing' rain.
