Helping out at the Columbia Road Community Apple Day

Background to today's task

Come and join this interesting and fun new task with the Columbia TRA as they celebrate Autumn with this fantastic orchard-and-Autumn activity.

Including neighbourhood orchard tours, potting and bulb-planting and, of course, the longest apple peel competition, this community day looks set to get November off to a great start - and the Columbia TRA could definitely do with a few pairs of GoodGym hands on the day...

What you need to know

• Timing options are as follows:

• Arrive at 10:30am to help with set-up.

• ...And/or drop-in anytime before 4pm and you will be given a task (you can pop in the comments section below your arrival time, and duration of your visit, if you wish, and we will pass this on to the task owner, Ed).

• Tasks may include:

• Tidying a community plant nursery, so local residents can visit.

• Operating an apple juicing press (you will be given clear guidance, and a safety briefing on how to use).

• Planting autumn bulbs.

• Stewarding.

• The meeting point for volunteers is at the Dunmore Hut on the Gascoigne Estate (off Gascoigne Place). (Bulb planting will be on nearby estates - you will be shown where to go on the day).
