Last Sunday, our local Goodgym crew joined the resident volunteers of Crouch End Open Space (aka CREOS) with their continued footpath maintenance project between Highgate Woods, Crouch End and Muswell Hill.

Upon our arrival, we were greeted by Glenys Law and the team in the Hanley Tennis Club car park, and got straight to work on transporting wheel barrows full of hoggin (an organic mix of building aggregate and sand) along the woodland paths. John and Karen stayed at the entrance of Queen's Wood at the start of the session, raking up leaves and green undergrowth off the pathways. Richard and Simon unloaded the hoggin in position, before walking the 0.3 km back to the car park.

We soon learned not to over load the wheel barrows, as traversing steps and muddy slopes can be tricky! The foot paths were also open to the public, so we had to be aware of hikers, runners and curious dogs on route.

The CREOS volunteers were absolutely thrilled with the progress we made on this long term project, and have plans on inviting us back again in early January. Watch this space!
