On Monday evening we made the most of our Indian summer to stretch our legs in Norman Park.
As the sun set we lapped the parkrun 5K route, alternating running and walking to gradually improve our stamina, before circling back to join James from the Friends of Norman Park to lend a hand in the on-site micro-forest.
After our back-to-back heatwaves, the saplings are just about clinging on but they need our help with regular watering and weeding to give them the best chance of survival.
Special mention to returnee Vinesh for ticking off his third workout of the day and regular Marina for tagging an extra-long run onto our session.
We'll be back in Norman Park this Saturday morning for the Bromley parkrun – a free 5K course you can run or walk – followed by a coffee catch-up in the nearby Trackside Café.
You can sign up here.
I'll be there – be great if you can make it.

Last night GoodGym Bromley went door-to-door flyering for the fantastic local charity Bromley Borough Foodbank (BBF).
BBF has recently signed up to a number of Run for Charity and Ultra Challenge events, giving people of all ages and abilities the opportunity to turn their miles into meaning.
Now they're calling on residents to take part in a 5K, 10K, half marathon, marathon or epic 100K ultra endurance challenge to raise funds and awareness for their cause.
Sign up via BBF's Run for Charity links here to get a discounted entry price.
Special thanks to Ray at BBF for pulling everything together and GoodGym Bromley regular Mairi for putting up with a somewhat poorly Area Activator (still reeling from completing the Berlin Marathon on Sunday).
Next week we're heading directly to Norman Park to give everyone the option to walk or run before mixing in with watering the micro-forest near Hook Farm Road Car Park.
Sign up here.

This Monday, GoodGym Bromley went door-to-door flyering for the brilliant Library of Things (LoT).
LoT is an organisation helping ease the cost of living crisis by providing rental access to tools and appliances like drills and sewing machines that would typically cost hundreds.
You can find their lockers at the Greener & Cleaner Hub in The Glades and 20+ other locations across London.
Special mention to Marian for keeping pace through Church House Gardens, Laura for leading out the walking group and good luck Denzel ahead of the Vitality 10K.
Everyone who joined on Monday night will also get an exclusive discount to use LoT (I'll email you directly).
Next week we're hitting the streets again flyering for Bromley Borough Foodbank. Hope to see you there.

Last night we gave Bromley's Church House Gardens a quick tidy while Kerry from the Friends of group dug out some invasive plants.
I was delighted to see so many turn out, our strongest showing since relaunching in August, and especially grateful for Rose setting the pace on our 2K running loop to kick off the evening.
Special mention to first timers Vinesh, Marina and Paige. Also Sarah for taking the initiative to lead our walking group to the task.
I hope you'll all be able to join us again later this month.
Next up on Monday 21st we're flyering for Library of Things. LoT run a network of lockers stocked with useful tools like drills and carpet cleaners to help ease the cost of living in our community.
More hands make light work. Runners + Walkers welcome. You can sign up HERE.
Have a great rest of your week.

Last night we welcomed some familiar faces and returning heroes as we joined forces with volunteers in Bromley Palace Park.
After a steady 2K run around the houses, we rocked up to the park to help ferry wood chip back and forth, lining the path circling the moat before rainy season arrives.
Recycled from an expired tree on the park's grounds, the wood chip should stop the path turning into a muddy slip and slide over the autumn.
Special mention to mother and daughter duo Sarah and Liliane for getting their first Group Run under their belts, and GoodGym regular Laura for joining her first session since we reformed.
You can sign up to our next sessions here:
Monday 14th - Deep Clean Church House Gardens
Monday 21st - Spread The Word for The Library of Things
Hope to have you all back.

Pah, what bank holiday?!
On Monday we rounded off the first full month of GoodGym Bromley's return with a run down to Norman Park's micro-forest.
Upon discovering the water butt had run dry, we pivoted plans to dig out weeds intruding on the saplings' patch.
Special mention to returning GoodGymer Helen for starting her London Marathon prep early.
We'll return to Norman Park later in September. Next Monday (7th Sep) we'll be heading back to Bromley Palace Park.
Don't forget to sign up (and bring a plus 1) .
