We'd expected more leaflets but made good with the 100 or so we had to advertise the Autumn Fair this weekend at St Werburgh's City Farm. We managed to speak to some residents, too who seemed keen - fingers crossed for a good event!

Richard and I visited Mr M this afternoon to get the grass cut, trim back the vegetation around his garden path and cut back the bushes and hedge that was overhanging the public footpath.
A half time cup of tea with almond slices gave us a chance to have a natter with Mr M about his recent trip to France and regular visits to the dentist.
A pleasure as always to help Mr M and great to catch up with Richard.

Mrs M had bought a new mower so that I could cut the grass for her.
As she couldn’t work out how to put it together, my first task was to assemble the new mower and once that was done the grass was mown.

Credit Frances with the pun, when she eventually found us on her extended walk almost as far as Dame Emily Park before retracing some of those steps to Brunswick Cemetery.
We had bulbs to plant and thistles/other weeds to dig out in a multi-pronged GoodGym Bristol attack alongside some of the Friends of Brunswick Cemetery.
All of a sudden it's definitely dark and we were back to using our big lights as well as head torches to separate weeds from keepers. And the return of the essential role of lamppost person - a speciality of Richard - whilst Caroline, Ed and Phill (who's recovering and being sensible with his return to running) dug the small holes for multiple bulbs and Frances recorded events.
On the other side of the main path, Vaguely Northern Darren and Jason jumped on a big fork to try and get the thistles out and Melanie tried to untangle weeds from the struggling euonymus (or something).
With piles of green waste left for the gardeners to collect, we were soon off back to Workout, except everyone was coming to our monthly Eats (the first Tuesday of the month) at The Coconut Tree for great food, chat and mocktails. And right by the bus stop for those getting a lift home - perfect.

There were over 60 NOs gas bottles left in bushes at the slopes. Fortunately we were there to fill up a van and take them to the bottom to be collected. Sadly a very common sight here, hopefully a long term solution can be found?

Another weedy street in Southville, another Tuesday evening opportunity for GoodGym Bristol to get stuck in!
Having opted out of glyphosate all year, some of the Southville gutters and pavements are very weedy which can also lead to blocked drains, so manual effort to keep the rainwater flowing is the order of the day.
Sweeping and scraping, a little bit if hacking and the longest, clumpiest piece if weed ever, lots of chat and the odd cat, many gutters and wall edges were all spruced up by the time we were due to run (or walk) away again.
Lits of lively chat sat outside at Workout and then a blast of DIYSOS getting a lorry stuck and the successfully pulling it out - jeopardy indeed.
See tiu all for more next week!
