Samina, Sofia, Sabina, Glava and Pete met at Beer n Burger. We then jogged /walked to St Luke's church in West Kilburn to meet Leslie. We met up with Dennis on the way. Leslie showed us what to do and gave us buckets and cleaning materials. We were soon washing and drying the church's back windows until they were gleaming. We then made time, thanked Leslie and jogged back to Beer n Burger for a well-earned drink 🍸 It was great to welcome Sofia for her first Goodgym Brent session and great to see Sabina who was back for a visit. Great work everyone 👏

Samina and Pete met at Beer n Burger in Willesden Green and jogged down to Kilburn to meet Beatriz Kamil and Ajay. Ajay showed us where to work and we cut back a huge bush in a planter and cleared all the cuttings. We then completely weeded another planter. Well done everyone 👏 the planters looked so much better afterwards 👏

A great day out with Running With The Brothers. We met up outside the iconic Wembley Stadium and had a lot of banter involving running and football. Once everyone arrived and had a little catch up, I did a quick briefing where I discussed the purpose of GoodGym and the details for the current task we would be doing.

After that we sent off for a nice and easy run to Chalkhill Park. I provided everyone with gloves and bin bags then we all split off in groups to cover different areas of the park. The team did an amazing job, all it took was 15 mins for groups to come back with bin bag completely filled. Once done, we ran back to Wembley Stadium and spent a good amount of time chatting and joking about before we finally parted ways.

Kash and Sevan were back to help Mr F in his front garden today after tackling the back last time. Weeding the all concrete, sloped front garden sounded simple. There were lots of cracks and uneven surfaces that the weeds had gotten into though and the south-east facing from garden was catching lots of sun too, draining the team's energy. There was a lot more work than Mr F and his wife expected.

Pulling the weeds was the most rewarding and most difficult way to clear the concrete. Seeing the roots rip out of the ground was satisfying, knowing that they wouldn't be able to grow back quickly. If the wouldn't pull out, then Kash and Sevan resorted to cutting or scraping, which wouldn't last as long.

As the GoodGymers were working hard in the heat, Mr F's wife brought them some cold water with elephant shaped ice cubes. After a couple of minutes, the cubes had vanished in the heat and elephants were extinct, or maybe they were actually mammoths and their ice age had come to an end. Mammoth ice cubes for a mammoth task?

After an hour, the front garden was clear, so work moved to the back. Kash twisted more weeds from around Mr F's prized rose bushes and Sevan cleared the area in front of the shed. They achieved a lot and there was plenty more work still to be done. They left Mr F really happy with the result, especially the transformation at the front, before Kash and Sevan ran off to their last mission of the day.

3 Goodgymers enjoyed a gardening session with the team at Preston Road library where we helped to remove dandelions from the soil, contributing these to a compost heap. We worked on the soil and left the area clear of dandelions for lots of grass and flowers to grow!!

Tonight, Beatriz, Chris, and Tabitha took on the quarterly task of packing up the sale at TRAID in Kilburn. When we arrived, the shop was packed with clothes and the challenge ahead looked pretty daunting. Our mission was to strip every item from the clothing rails, carefully pack everything into boxes, and then gather up and box all the hangers too.

Working together, we made great progress and left a mountain of neatly packed boxes ready for the next stage of the shop's move. As an added bonus, we discovered a rather fabulous silver sparkly dress which,l we personalised to be our unofficial GoodGym-themed outfit for the evening.
