On a wet and windy Sunday afternoon a small group of explorers gathered in a field near the Pear Tree Park to find waxcaps where ancient grasslands are. Was the group successful in finding "magical" mushrooms or did they find other mushrooms or any other "items"? The team had a great debrief from our lead explorer Richard from Ealing Greenwayers who shared what to look for but a small quiz that had a twist. Can you identify them? We all adventured to find these waxcaps but we also armed ourselves with litter pickers to collect unwanted items whilst we were walking and hunting for mushrooms. We found some mushrooms, but not as successful as we had hoped. Up side is that we picked up roughly about 2 bags of rubbish including a small "football" table that was broken to pieces with some players injured as we tried to guess which team they were from. Maria was not present but went hunting fro mushrooms in Richmond park so we have added some of her findings. Some very colorful mushrooms.

Huge thank yous to Steph, Harvey, Janet and Neal for joining the Greenwayers for the Plantlife Waxcap Survey in Longfield Meadows and a section of Pear Tree Park, Perivale. They made the task really enjoyable with their expertise and determination. Photos of Janet's find have gone off to Plantlife for analysis, as has David's (Greenwayers) find.
