Report written by Michael
Week two and this time we mean business......we have deciphered the instructions, and have tools all ready to go. The spades were out in.......well...... spades, and the trusty auger was back in action.
To work we go, the easier holes were made first of all with the auger, whilst the troublesome spots were spades and the occasional hammer. Sparks were flying as the tarmac was broken through and the largest rock was removed, at last we had six holes ready to go.
We called for reinforcements from the other volunteers, as we were ready to 'raise the roof'
Up it went, some final hitting with the mallet and it was time to fill the holes and secure the poles. Slightly wonky, but that's just added character, and the cage was up.
Stargarallot Community Garden was created in 2018 by local residents as a community garden network covering the STAR area of Cardiff.
