Find out about GoodGym TaskForce
Report written by Emma Wilkins
On a wet and windy Monday evening, three GoodGym runners convened at Mrs B’s house for a mission.
Mrs B gave us a warm welcome and explained tonight’s tasks. Firstly, she wanted our help with her side gate that was proving tricky to shut. Secondly, her front hedge needed a bit of a trim. We decided to divide and conquer...
Nathan and Ben tackled the gate. After a thorough (‘gate’) analysis, they concluded that it was, indeed, tricky to shut. Cue some improvisation on the tool front... There was some filing of the latch to ease the gate’s path and some gentle bashing (technical term) on the catch to make it easier to shut.
At the other end of the garden, Emma had set to work on the hedge. In almost no time at all, the hedge was tidier and appeared more under control...apart from those pesky branches too high to reach. As if by magic, Nathan appeared with some loppers (another technical term) and reached up to tidy the tops. What a lopper work we did!
We returned to test the gate and all seemed to be in working order. Mrs B inspected the garden and was pleased with the fine job we’d done!
We had a lovely chat with Mrs B about two of her good friends. Mrs B told us that one of her friends was very practical and helped with the shopping and the other would tell her to get her gladrags on and take her out for coffee! We all need friends like that!
Making sure that Mrs B was safely back in the warm and locked up for the evening, it was time to bid our farewells...until the next mission GoodGymers!
