Find out about GoodGym TaskForce
Report written by Liv Parker-Scott
A lovely sunny end to the day saw 14 of us GoodGymers running through the lovely parks of Ealing to support The Log Cabin Children's Charity.
Congratulations marathon runners!
We kicked things off by congratulating Emily on her return to GoodGym after completing her first marathon in Brighton a few weeks ago! In their absence we also marveled at the efforts of all those who ran The London Marathon on Sunday including our group runner Hayley who finished in an incredible time with the most perfect splits you could imagine! Harvey didn't secure a place in this years London Marathon but that didn't stop him making use of the closed roads and instead took on the route in reverse at 3am the morning before the main event.
Inspired by all these achievements we went off for our run, taking in two of Ealing's lovely parks which we are so lucky to be able to use in the lighter months, before arriving at The Log Cabin in Northfields. As always there was lots to do and we packed in as much weeding, sweeping, raking, trimming and de-nettle-ing as we could in the time we had!
The award for strangest find this evening goes to Emily who in the process of pulling out a weed found a parsnip...
We even had a guest appearance from Chi who came down to pap us for the evening so we all felt like GoodGym celebrities for the night, thanks for the pics Chi!
After a good amount of sprucing up in the playground, including sweeping a lot of white fluffy tree seeds (which I've now researched to be White poplar tree seeds!), we completed a quick partner core workout before embracing the parks once more for our run back.
The Log Cabin was founded in 1977 by the Mayor of Ealing, to provide a community based, purpose-built adventure playground for children and young people with additional needs or disabilities. It is used by over 350 children and young people every year. We are based at the Log Cabin Children's Centre in Northfield Avenue.
