Autumn has officially arrived, and the evening light - that we Goodgymmers rely on for our good deeds - is beginning to fade. It's not all bad news though, for I hereby confirm that mince pies and other Christmas goods are now available from most good supermarkets (and definitely all the bad ones).

Anyway, it was still a very pleasant early autumn evening when Stephen, Susan, Rosemary, Frannie, Tabi, Mike, Helena and Roy gathered at the Bevy for an hour of weeding and other garden-related action, under Warren's direction.

Half the group went off to the veg beds with Dave and Shirley, weeding and removing some of the veg that had seen better days, and turning the beds ready for next season. Rosemary came out of it with her dinner sorted, taking home a fine looking corn on the cob and spring onions to boot.

The rest of us were in the beer garden with Warren and set to work weeding, and filling some of the large planters with compost. I went up the ladder (a step ladder, not my real ladder) and spent my time weeding the top beds.

Afterwards, we chatted for a few minutes, and realised how nice it would be if the Bevy was actually open when we come here...maybe next time!

Talking of pubs - I just realised yesterday was our designated social evening (second Tuesday of the month) - any chance of doing one next week? I guess we would have to split in to groups of 6 :-(
