One of the benefits of helping out at the best Community Garden in Brighton and Hove is that head gardener Kim is able to pass on her extensive knowledge of all things gardening.
Today I learnt that there's a worm that eats potatoes that thrives in uncultivated soil so one of our jobs today was to fork over the rose beds where the potatoes had been planted. I know potatoes in rose beds?! Apparantly its the modern way to mix your flowers and veggies, so there's something else I learnt!
Once forked over we spread some good, fertilising, soil enriching manure around the base of the roses to ensure they continue to flourish.
I highly recommend checking out this amazing garden and hopefully we will back very soon to help spread the stunning transformation that's been achieved here around some more of the Ingram Estate.
