We had 42 people turn up for Camden GoodGym this week. I think this might equal our largest group ever. The run report will loosely be based around words that rhyme with the number 42.

2

Which technically rhymes with 42 and describes the number of groups we split into. We headed out to cover tasks at the Skip Garden and Chalk Farm foodbank this week.

a few...

The number of times I had to check the map on the 3k run to Chalk Farm. It was a nice run though, skirting past Regents Park and Primrose Hill. The Foodbank is a part of a UK wide network managed by the Trussell Trust. They provide a minimum of three days emergency food and support to people experiencing crisis in the UK. Last year the Trust's UK foodbank network fed over 900,000 people.

All food is donated by the public and sorted by volunteers, and we are always happy to help out when we can. The Lambeth team have been running to help Vauxhall foodbank sort, weigh and package food for the last 12 months. If you want to read more about Chalk Farm Foodbank have a look at this link

The reaction of Adrienne the coordinator at the bank when she noticed the size of the team that had arrived to help out. We split into 4 or 5 teams, some lifting and carrying food trays, some labelling and sorting donations, some sorting through biscuits and some lying about on the floor doing exercises. Nice. We tried to swap around so everyone had a chance to get involved.

The other group ran to Skip Garden to continue a task we started last week. Here's Paul B's report;

Our job was to lift large plant/soil containers into the greenhouse to prepare for winter. We moved them last week, so they could adjust all the shelves properly. Tonight we shifted them back!

The Kings Cross Skip Garden continues to grow it's own produce, the soil containers were used to continue this. The amazing GoodGymers split into pairs and formed an orderly queue (as suggested by GG legend Becky Greenwood) and got to work. There were a dozen containers to be lifted and with straight backs and bent knees the task was done in no time!

We certainly used our energy for good, lifting something that needed to be lifted. After quickly posing for a group photo we then ran to and along the canal to join the others at Chalk Farm Foodbank, where Shaun put us to work again with a few core exercises! Great running and lifting guys - Team Paul for the win!

achoo

The excuse Becky then gave when skiving off the first of the core exercises! (Sorry Becky...I needed one more rhyme). After packing up and dusting ourselves down we fled into the night...or more accurately we ran back to Somers Town Community Centre.

It was a pretty successful night with the shorter run group covering 6k and the longer group tackling just over 8. Nice running and nice work. 2 tasks completed!
