'Bin' a long time since we litter picked...and the grot spots have improved!

Ipswich Report written by Natalie (she/her )

A great turn out tonight to litter pick along the river tonight and contribute to Keep Britain Tidy and the Big Spring Clean.

With a hardy crew of six we hit the river litter pickers in hand and were in for a shock ..the well known 'grot spot' near the skate park was what can only be described as clean and tidy! Perhaps word has finally got out that littering is NOT cool or more people have gotten involved with the spring clean .. either way, it's a great outcome!

Not to be deterred, we divided and conquered. Natasha, Leanne and Pippa hit the central reservation (promise no jaywalking and full Highway Code) whilst Paul, Richard and I checked the planters along the river removing all detritus. Mission accomplished!

All around the port... Running longer than we had thought

Ipswich Report written by Natalie (she/her )

The training session got extended tonight as two runners took time to explore the port and waterfront area and put extra 'Ks' in their legs. What started out as a gentle jog and chat took a competitive turn as Richard (who came back after last week's Group Run) challenged Natalie to a hill : enter the 'pain cave'- now a word synonymous with a good bit of gradient. Perhaps a little too much Gladiators has been watched lately as they channeled their inner 'travelator' sprint. A crisp night for it and definitely a good way to run out the stress from the day.

Not an evening to be 'clothes minded': this donation room needs a refresh

Ipswich Report written by Natalie (she/her )

Firstly, welcome to new Good Gymer Richard! Welcome to the gang! And great to have company on the run this evening and learn about your speedy running escapades.

Great to see Paul back along for tonight's task too and returning core members Bruce, Imogen, Pippa and David.

We were straight in to the task tonight as the job looked big. A serious amount of KGs in donations had arrived at the Salvation Army and we had to create some order in the chaos.

Life's biggest, most pressing and existential questions were quick to surface: is a fleece a jumper or a coat? And what about gillets? Should jeans be folded or arranged by size?

In 40 minutes the room was transformed and Beverley was very pleased. Aesthetics and levels of order did plague Imogen, Pippa and myself: should we introduce colour coding next time too for ease of browsing?
