Pack, rack and stack... Sticking together

Ipswich Report written by Natalie (she/her )

Such is the efficiency of the Good Gym Ipswich team that we double-tasked tonight!

After our run tonight we headed to the Salvation Army where Beverley had lined up two tasks: not a problem we said with the swagger of a gang who know how to get stuck in.

First up was tackling the donation room and getting the clothes sorted. All separated and folded by item so that they are easy to access and try on. Five suitcases done and tidied.

Task two alerted all our sweet tooths as we divided sweets and wrapped them ahead of Valentines Day for gifts for the residents. It seems Quality Sweets are for life and not just for Christmas.

Well done everyone! Paul Natasha 10 Imogen Bruce

All in a day's (art)work....

Ipswich Report written by Natalie (she/her )

Was this a dream task? I'm raising my hand and saying a big 'yes'! And judging by the turn out and smiles as we left, I think many of the Good Gymers agreed.

Firstly, a huge welcome to new Good Gymers Pippa and partner David! They looked so at home at art hub Rock Paper Scissors we thought they were part of the creative team!

Great to be able to wish Paul, Natasha and Mirandaa belated Happy New Year and check in with Bruce and Imogen as to their weekly mileage.

We were made to feel right at home by Lulu and Jess as we entered their amazing space. Heaters on and a super cosy atmosphere, chai tea (a personal fave) and offer of an oaty biscuit. Thank you!

Tasks included putting up artwork of all shapes and sizes and sorting their materials. A few shouts of 'up a bit on the left' and 'down a bit on the right' and the wall was transformed by beautiful work created by children and young people. Luckily I left my spirit level at home or this could have taken a tad longer .....

The task definitely stirred some creative spirit and I wouldn't be surprised if there are few adults trying to join the sessions. Collaging group, anyone?

Loved seeing everyone and well done for braving the cold. The run was 'brisk' to say the least. What a (he)artfelt task.......

And that's a wrap!

Ipswich Report written by Natalie (she/her )

We got in the festive flow tonight as we headed off to wrap presents for the salvation army.

Quickly dividing ourselves into 2 teams of 2, we were wrapping machines. Eleanor and Natasha made up the first formidable duo whilst Paul and I comprising the second.

Within minutes the competitive spirit surfaced as to which team could wrap fastest and neatest - although it seems those two things don't always go hand in hand.

Right on the button of an hour spent et voila.... a bounty of *beautifully wrapped gifts

Full credit to Eleanor for the pun too... credit where credit is due.

Great work everyone. Think Father Christmas still needs some helpers ...?

*not all presents wrapped by Natalie can be described as perfectly executed ..

One plant sending us (re)potty

Ipswich Report written by Natalie (she/her )

A big welcome back to Kerry who officially took part in his 101st Good Gym task! It was a group of three tonight with Paul giving us a practical and sartorial lesson in neon green. ,*adds to Christmas wish list *

Anyway, back to the task in hand. We made our way to Blue Cross animal rehoming centre tonight to help repot some plants.

The centre was full of festive cheer with decorations and a tree up and Tracey gave us some expert instruction on repotting.

All was going smoothly until one plant seemed VERY comfortable in its current pot. It took all four of us pondering the physics of how it could be extracted without harming it before Kerry managed to successfully extricate it.

Many shouts of "branch" accompanied the run home as we navigated a dark road with multiple thorny branches. If only some of the branches could borrow some hi -vis ...
