Unlucky for some, but not SAMYE as 13 goodgymers got together on a chilly evening to volunteer their time and get active. Split into groups, walkers, runners and cyclists we made our way to help our friends one last time for 2023.
The cyclists meeting us at the task as they made their own way, Nathan leading the runners from our start location, with Michael taking the walkers for a jaunty stroll through the city.
But before we head our ways, we have just enough time to . . . .
We arrived at Samye and headed straight into the warmth, as usual our tasks were listed on the white board;
we split into teams to tackle each of the tasks, as a team vanished up into the loft, and one under the stairs. Once the stairs had been cleared everyone split into 3 tree groups to tackle the most important tasks of all.
Finally, all trees were ready and in their positions. Whilst the goodgym crew sat down to some food Michael ran around getting photos of those trees.
Thanks to everyone for coming out tonight, and a BIG thank you to SAMYE for their continued support of goodgym and all of our members.
Join us next week for the very last goodgym group task of 2023.

Another last minute change to task this week, due to some unfortunate circumstances. However, we were able to pick up the cancelled task from last week instead and get out on those streets pounding the pavement!
We met at Daffodil as we would do on our usual Tuesday's, and then made our way over to Oasis - supplying a warm Welsh welcome for Refugees and Asylum Seekers, and the task to put out flyers to let the locals know about the new STREET FOOD LUNCH SERVICE The Plate project serves a choice of lunches from around the globe to the streets of Splott.
A good split today, with some of us jogging to the task, some cycling to meet us there and an extra couple meetings at the task.
We hadn't been to Oasis for a while, so as we waited for others to arrive, we had a lovely look around. There was now a new pond and planting to look at. Once everyone had arrived, we did things a bit backwards today, with our group photo first.
Once we hit the streets with our flyers, we would be splitting up for a while, regrouping, and then finishing the flyering on the way back to the Daffodil. So, no time for group photos in this!
We hope that they see new customers at the food truck, join us next week as we get back to our usual Tuesday tasks - sign up here

What a beautiful day we had today, just perfect for a nice jog and some friendly volunteering. Once again we had our two pickup locations, Sport Wales and Big Moose, as we all eagerly met ready to get back to School.
We were met by the Head Teacher,
How strange to be in school during the Easter holidays, but no time to waste, lets get to work. This evening we had a lovely task to help make a start on clearing out flower beds that the pupils can turn into sensory gardens, a vegetable patch and a rainbow garden. I don't know about you but I can't wait to see the results.
We got stuck in, pulling Ivy, cutting Buddleja, digging out weeds and finding some long forgotten toys.
Several bags full, and it was a great start to the project. Much clearer and you could see the potential of the space now, hopefully we will return again to help / see progress. We thanked Mrs Thomas and her family before hitting the streets and heading back to Sport Wales for a stretch and rest.
Join us next week as we help out Riverside Medical Centre to create some wildflower areas.
