The (Store) cupboard is bare

Monday 4th July 2022

Written by Harvey Gallagher (he/him)

The Store Cupboard is a fantastic community shop that addresses food poverty and is a lifeline to many families. They're on the move to a bigger and better premises - hurray! They needed a few extra hands prepared to hoover, mop and clean the old shop, ready to hand back to the landlady - we were pleased to be of assistance. We'll be back to help out at the new place!

When I’m cleaning windows

Monday 20th June 2022

Written by Ealing runner

Tonight 6 of us got together to support the Store Cupboard with their pre-clean for their new premises! 9 I wonder if you have ever seen what an old (gutted) bookies looks like.. Well if Coral West Ealing's carpets could talk... They were filthy though, pending a magic carpet clean soon!

We cleaned the windows, bathroom and kitchen and swept those dusty spiders away all ready for the carpets to be refitted and cleaned and the stock to move in. We may need another attempt at those pesky streaky windows though... You know where we are team!

The Store Cupboard hope to move from their old Hanwell location in early July and we will be happy to help them do so.

Cheers everyone!

Déjà brew

Tuesday 31st August 2021

Written by Liv Parker-Scott

It was a funny Tuesday night this week, the bank holiday threw us all off, but Tuesday's were made for GoodGyming in Ealing and 13 people came to make good stuff happen!

We were joined by Jennifer for the first time this week, welcome to GoodGym Ealing!

Tea Total!

Tonight was all about tea, a vintage tea party to be specific! The William Hobbayne Charity are hosting a vintage afternoon tea party this Saturday to raise essential funds for The Store Cupboard and needed out help to get set up in advance.

We were busy sorting tea cups, pots and saucers and the team really took to making sure we had lovely sets all matched up. Before long it was all coming together and we'd sorted everything needed for guests to have the perfect afternoon tea experience at the weekend!

Still want more?

If you'd like to help on the day itself we have two sessions listed on the GoodGym website for Saturday (there will be cake involved!). Check out the listings here and sign up if you can help!

Bringing the Dodo back to life

Thursday 1st April 2021

Written by Marieke

The William Hobbayne Charity had asked us to help a beloved local business get back on its feet, by allowing the outdoor space in the back to be used for customers once they're allowed to open up again. There were a fair few items to clear, such as crates and pallets used for the Hanwell Hootie, some slabs of stone and wood and a few tables. We managed to move some of the items either on foot or by trolley to the nearby Store Cupboard, and cleared the area of any rubbish and weeds. To be continued!

All in a grey's work

Wednesday 17th February 2021

Written by Liv Parker-Scott

Tonight was our third visit of the week to The Store Cupboard and this evening it was all about painting, painting a lovely shade of grey mostly!

Milly & Michelle teamed up to tackle some shelves and give them a good coating. Bryon & Harvey worked together to clear and clean the basement and then helped de-rust and scrub down a shelving unit. Jackie also helped bring a shine to the metal unit and helped with the cleaning effort too.

The shop is coming to life more and more everyday and we're so priviliged to be part of it all!
