Two organisations for one

Last night we had two tasks to complete, one was for Holy Trinty Pre school and the other for Knaphill Community Fridge.

Just the four ladies tonight but we split into two team. With Alys and Rosie taking on the gardening tasks at the pre school and myself and Julie taking on the cleaning task at Knaphill community fridge. Luckily they are next door to each other!

Alys and Rosie had to the jobs of tackling the herb garden and edging of the path, there was a promise of jet washing but it was a tad but dark for that. Whilst Julie and I gave the cabin a deep clean, moving all the fridges and cleaning behind and clearing the cob webs.

We had to two lovely bonus's tonight... firstly we got to meet Quinn, Alys's new lovely little dog, I think he enjoyed himself running around the garden. And secondly there was a delivery from Gail's bakery to the Community Fridge so we all went away with a little sweet treat! YUM!!

Next week

We will be meeting at Brookwood farm car park. The litter around the park is terrible so we will aim to complete 30 mins of litter picking before heading off for a run down the canal and back along the heath to the car park.

To Bee or not to bee

No tree was safe last night

Especially when James has a sharp saw in his hand.

Last night we headed to the Knaphill Community fridge. Next door to the community fridge is Holy Trinity Pre school. We were greeted by Jules and volunteer and gardener Richard. The task involved clearing trees in the pre school garden.

One tree was causing the pre school some 'Bee' issues as being a wonderful pollinator for the bees, it was also dangerous for the pre schoolers and had to be coned off due to the threat of a Bee to sting to a child.

We had the job of also bringing down the height of the trees along the path - an impressive birds nest was discovered. Adam's height came in handy for this job!

We also welcomed back Anne who was back to her group runs after being in France - It was lovely having you back! Rosie also brought her boyfriend along to give GoodGym a go. Well done to those who either ran or cycled to the task.

Good luck to James running a 20 miler this weekend.

Next week - We are at woodham parish church - meeting at WWF and running down the canal - this is roughly 2km to the task.

Kissed by a rose 🌹

This evening Woking GG were at the community fridge in Knaphill.

Todays task was to remove the old sleepers around the raised bed that had rotten, also remove the lavender plants and find and remove any bulbs we found to be re-planted once new sleepers had been put in.

Jules who runs the community fridge provided us with plenty of tools and we all got going. Kirsty, Wayne, James started to work on the rose bush to trim back and then remove it so it could be re-planted else where. This particular task was like an archeological dig the roots were in so deep but with James delicate hand work we managed to get it out. 🥀

The sleepers were removed by Wayne & Adam and put and put away some where out of the way and covered up as these will be taken away tomorrow.

Anne, Alys, Holly, Started putting the soil into bags while at the same time finding and removing bulbs. In total we got 2 bucket loads of these and we filled up 6 bags of soil which Adam carted away in a wheel barrow.

All in all it was a good evenings work.. James, Adam and Anne ran to help Alys's mother-in-law to move furniture as she is building an extension to care for her bed-ridden husband. Hard work, Adam and James would have done Woking GG very proud!

Good luck to James, Anne, Kirsty, & Lauren who are taking part in the Dorney Lake Run This Sunday...

A big welcome to Sam who joined us for his first group run session, Sam is the son of Adrian from All Saints Parish Church. It was a joy to have you along and I hope you will join us again soon for another task. We were also joined by a Devon resident and my mum who was staying for the night came along to experience a GoodGym task, she said it was nice to actually meet you all in person as she has seen the GoodGym story on Social Media.

Last night we were at Knaphill Community Fridge. Jules who helps run the community fridge had plenty of tasks to keep up us. - Painting the outside of the shed with a black stain to help protect it. - Painting the inside of the doors with a bright white - Painting the fence with the black stain - Litter pick the surrounding area

With all hands on deck we got to work. It was The A Team - Adam who had the long arms and could reach the areas no one else could.

We had a glimpse of Lauren's ankle - we hope you are on the mend soon and will be back running when you are ready.

We finished off with a sweet treat from Gail's bakery - thank you Knaphill Community Fridge for going out your way to make sure we had a little treat for afterwards.

Next week we will be heading to Woking Park to lay some bark for the Park Run loop. Please sign up online. A big well done to James who gained a massive PB in the Richmond half.

No mould or dirt stood in our way!

Last night four of the GoodGym ladies took on the Knaphill community fridge deep clean. Not one man signed up to the task last night.... I wonder why?

We were greeted by Jules, she is one of the main organisers of the Community Fridge and she set off on out tasks. With Lauren and Alys taking on the Marquee. Myself and Anne were busy moving the cleaning the shed were the community fridge food is kept. With a filing cabinet, fridge, freezer and shelving unit to move, making sure every inch of the shed was spotless. With not one spider for Anne to freak out about, we did manage to find two copies of gardner's world magazine and an over-sized cheque behind the fridge and a potato behind the freezer. Lauren an Alys were cleaning the marquee from any dirt and mould which has grown over the damp cold months. The marquee was looking sparkling white in no time.

A big thank you to the Knaphill community fridge for our sweet treat from Gails. And well done to Alys, Anne and Lauren.

Next week

Our group task will take place the food bank in Woking. Meeting at the Leisure Center.

Pivot!

Pivot and side step

Last night GoodGym Members met at the Knaphill Community Fridge to help move a gala marquee tent.

The marquee has been down for almost and year and with all the heavy traffic the marquee was now more of a mud bath inside and water was just running down into the middle. They have just had the fantastic news that they have been offered funded for new landscaping. To help get ready for the new landscaping we had the job of moving the marquee and matting to a drier patch on the grass. Some of the pegs were overgrown and was starting to become part of the landscape, with some force the matting was lifted and replaced in the new location.

Well done to Ben and Katie for running to the task.

The award for the smartest dressed GoodGym members goes to Rebecca! This didn't stop her from getting down and dirty at the task.

We were awarded with some delicious bakery goods from Gails! Thank you - I enjoyed mine for breakfast this morning.

Next week

Meet at Woking Leisure Center for some leafleting to advertise the Festive Run for Woking Hospice - sign up now!

We also have a social evening on the 7th of December with some bowling action

The last group run of the year will take place on the 14th of December - we will be at the food bank and making up the bags for donations.
