Coppicing or pollarding, we’re not fussy. Loppers in hand, we’ll chop whatever we’re told. Today it was a thicket that had got a little too tall at Petersham Common, where it had started blocking the light to neighbouring properties and making this managed wilderness look a little rough around the edges.
There was no beating about this bush, we got straight to work cutting it back in its place. What an unbeleafable upper body workout we got by stretching through the dense branches and wielding our loppers high.
Plenty of passers-by enjoying a Saturday morning walk through the woodland paths were very impressed with our work, and when we stood back to admire it with Ken’s customary snacks, so were we.

A very satisfying, and mostly inside, task today as four of us met to clean the community vans at Greenwood Community Centre.
Equipped with cloths, brooms, brushes, glass cleaner and a mop, we cleaned two vans to make them feel fresh and cared for, ready to get out into the local community that this important centre helps so much.
Thank you very much for having us Greenwood!
If you would like to get involved in tasks like this (we meet there, no running involved), simply have a look at our upcoming listings.

Our first December task took us to a brand new location for GoodGym. On the other side of the borough, we headed to Hampton Hill to help Greenwood Community Centre with some maintenance task to keep it top shape! And a new location brought two new GoodGymers too, welcome Patriona and Daire.
Tasks included scrubbing the moss between paving slabs, leaf collecting, sweeping, window washing and a rewarding task to clean the beautiful mosaic mural along the side wall. All of these things a great workout for the whole body, along with a good chatter while we worked!
Thank you Greenwood for having us along and we look forward to coming back soon.
