Written by Helen Conner (she/her)

On a Sunday sunny morning, 5 Goodgymers walked, cycled and ran to the Batheaston scout hut.

Helen collected a key from the Task Owner's house, and then met the team at the hut.

We wore our masks and entered the building. The paint, ladders and brushes were laid on the floor in anticipation.

To ensure social distancing. Rob and Max took one side of the hall starting at opposite ends, whilst Helen and Maryam started on the other side of the hall at opposite ends to one another.

Cosmo made a start in the hallway.

We had just two hours to do two long walls and the hallway. We painted to the sound of Kiss history playing on Helen's phone.

Two hours had finished and we had completed the main hall and almost all the hallway. We ran into overtime but the team stayed on to clean up the brushes and ensure all paint splatters were cleaned up.

A job well done. Before and after pictures are shown.

Paint no mountain high enough

Sunday 21st March 2021

4 volunteers walked and ran to the scout hut in Batheaston.

Our task was to paint two walls, skirting and door frames within two hours. With paint brushes in hand, Max and Emily started one end of the hut and Emily and Helen started at the other end.

As it was a very large hut we could easily maintain social distancing. We finished the walls within the hour and then moved onto the skirting. Two hours later and the task was complete.

Great job team! The scout hut looks nice and fresh ready for the scouts to return when allowed

Guttered for Japan!

Sunday 20th October 2019

Written by Bath runner

2 runners ran to 23rd Bath Avondale Scout hut to clean the gutters!

A brisk morning run along the canal and London Road West saw 2 GoodGym Bath runners cleaning the gutters around the hut - some were so full there were plants growing!

Not to be missed, we had the Japan v South Africa rugby match on the radio. Hoping for another miracle in Brighton, but it wasn’t to be!!

Many a bucket of gutter gunge was removed! Hopefully the hut is prepared for the winter weather now!
