Lucie R done a 12 month mission streak.

Wow, Lucie has completed a 12 month mission streak. That means they've cleared gardens, moved furniture and changed light bulbs in spring, summer, autumn and even winter. Show your support and give them a massive cheer!

Mulch ado about nothing

Southwark Report written by Sam Lefevre (he/him)

Lindy, Lucie, Nathan and Sam were back at Thorlands first session of 2023!

Simon was feeling much better after we had to cancel the last two 2022 sessions due to ill heath. Our main task for this session was to get all the remaining mulch from the drop off point where it has been living for the last three months or so to the Kitchen garden, which we did in an hour and 20 minutes. Barrow after barrow, we made sure the pile was finally gone! 😳

Watering & mulching

Southwark Report written by Sam Lefevre (he/him)

In the blazing heat, Lucie and Sam arrived at Thorlands to give much needed watering to the plants that we planted last Saturday and on Wednesday evening. Whilst Lucie was doing that, which required holes to be made before we could water. Sam mulched around the newly planted trees to encourage growth. The hour and 30 minutes session had dramas from the neighbors as well as plenty of water breaks due to the heat.

There will be the same of more next week!

A mu(l)ch ado about nothing

Southwark Report written by Sam Lefevre (he/him)

Due to flight issues coming back from Spain, Rebecca found herself at Thorlands two weeks in a row! It was also a delight to see the regular Lucie and a newbie to the area, Benoît who cycled all the way from Bethnal Green in East London.

The foursome took on the "Forest" garden since the woodchip delivery didn't arrive on time, the team continued with putting down cardboard, leaf mulch and woodchip to the tunes of summer throwbacks. By the end of the hour (and over the course of many Saturdays), they had covered almost a third of the "Forest" garden. There's more of this to be done to cover the whole area to ensure weeds can't grow and to start anew.
