Helping Lambeth’s Healthy Living Platform move out!

Wed 29 Sep 18:00 pm
Southwyck House Community Hall, Brixton, SW9 8UR
Packing up boxes and cooking equipment

Lambeth’s Healthy Living Platform have been doing amazing work from the start of the pandemic, cooking and delivering healthy meals (which we’ve helped with!) to vulnerable families and providing emergency food packages too.

They’re now moving out of their cooking hub in Southwyck Community Centre in Southwyck House and have asked for a hand with packing up!

We’ll meet at 6pm and should easily be done by 7pm!

They’re an awesome team and are really grateful for any help they can get :)

It’ll be inside so do bring a mask if you can.

Lets get in UNIformation

Sun 25 Jul
Report written by Liv Wicks

Unfortunately Sundays downpour mean't that not many donations turned up. It did mean we had plenty of time to sort through and hang up lots of donated school uniforms ready for those who need it for the next school year. It was oddly therapeutic!

After just over an hour we all prepared for a soggy walk/cycle/run (maybe a bus part of the way) journey home.

Taking in and Sorting donations for Get Rid Of & Donate

Sun 25 Jul 13:00 pm
St Faith's Community Centre, Red Post Hill, London, SE24 9JQ
Clothes will go to refugees, rough sleepers and vulnerable families

Get Rid Of And Donate (GROAD) do amazing work making use of unused STUFF donated to them by the public. We've previously helped them pack Christmas presents and toys for local kids and packed and distributed bags of essentials for rough sleepers.

They understandably have a lot of stock, covering projects for vulnerable families and refugees, so have asked for our help to sort their weekly stock intake.

The task is at St Faith's Church Hall, near North Dulwich station and we need 3 people.

Members of the public book a slot to bring their stuff and our job is then to put the stock into the right place by age and gender! As only a few people are required, there may not be a member of TaskForce present but you will be instructed with what to do.

Please bring a mask as the task will be inside 🤿

Traid'ing up

Mon 21 Jun
Report written by Liv Wicks

Traid is a charity working to stop clothes from being thrown away. They turn clothes waste into funds and resources to reduce the environmental and social impacts of our clothes. When we turned up at 6 they still had a big queue for their £1 sale. After the last sale went through, Steven, Frances and I quickly got to work. Within an hour and a half, all the old stock had been bagged up to be put to good use, the shop had been cleaned and the fresh stock was hung in a very pleasing colour coded system. The time flew by and lifting bin bags of clothes is a great arm work out, (getting them up from the basement wasn't bad for the legs either). Special shout out to Frances who was completing good deed number 501! Incredible.

Clearing up sale leftovers at TRAID

Mon 21 Jun 18:00 pm
TRAID, 2 Acre Lane, London, SW2 5SG
Before they bring in their new stock

TRAID is an environmental charity working to tackle and solve the problems caused by producing, consuming and disposing of clothes.

They've asked us to give them a hand packing away all their old stock:

  • taking it off the hangers

  • packing the clothes in trolleys

  • collecting the hangers

They'll then be able to add their fresh stock for the next day.

The task starts at 6pm and shouldn't take longer than an hour and a half.

Please wear a mask!
