Report a Pothole!

This will make roads better in your area for cyclists

Anyone who cycles is always on the lookout for potholes to ensure they don't have an accident. On my recent ride I've seen a couple of HUGE potholes and it made me think why are they there for ages - turns out people just don't report them, they complain about them though like me... So this weekend, my challenge is to report that pothole! All Week challenge:)

What a great effort from everyone - great photos and stories! You do keep me inspired with your wonderful spirit for litter picking that makes our communities better!

A little note re-register, it seem to have registered everyone in bulk - if you didn't manage to do any litter picking (like me hangs her head in shame, please let me know and i'll de-register like I did myself:))

This week I haven't got a litter-picking challenge but instead we are looking for people to report big potholes on their roads to improve them for cycling - you can do it through the week, the more holes reported the better! You can sign up here: https://www.goodgym.org/happenings/report-a-pothole

Weekly online live session - Fierce February Week 4 STRENGTH & CONDITIONING

Join in for a live workout at 7pm every Tuesday - this week it's strength & conditioning work together by the power of zoom

Every Tuesday during February we'll be doing a live workout at 7pm as part of our 'Fierce February' challenge (see all the details for week 4 here).

The whole workout will be around 30 minutes and is suitable for all abilities. The format will look a little bit like this:

  • Warm up and activation - 10 minutes
  • Main workout - 15 minutes
  • Stretches - 5 minutes

It's a great way to see some friendly faces and workout together while we're apart.

Collecting dregs from Greggs

Puns aren't my strength, i'm sorry.... moving on. After some confusion caused by a Greggs employee who had clearly had a bad day (we feel ya hun), John, Tom and I managed to collect the delicious bready, cakey and sausagey dregs. It seemed the snow had stopped people venturing out more than usual so we managed to fill 3 large backpacks, a bike bag and a Sainos carrier bag. This is when it occurred to me that I had turned up to the cycling equivalent of a group run, we had all chosen bikes as our snow transportation. Thankfully Tom and John were very patient with my slow cycling and knew the way there from previous Community Missions. After a snowy ride ,we dropped off the goods, took a quick pic and rode back to the warm. Bright Morning Star Prisons and Homeless Outreach have a fully stocked fridge for another day. A great example of how the GoodGym community connects the dots.

Fierce February - Week 2 LEG STRENGTH & STABILITY

January is over and that’s the time when lots of people (myself included!) dip in motivation to keep moving. So to combat that we’re introducing ’Fierce February’ to keep us fired up and focused for the month ahead!

Each week we’ll be concentrating on combating a different part of the body so that by the end of the month we’re feeling strong and powerful as we head into spring!

This week is all about leg strength and stability and here’s what we’re encouraging you to do. You can do as many of these suggestions as you like and in any order you fancy, everything is suitable for all abilities and you work at your own pace:
