Woking Parkrun

Woking Report written by James McCloud

This morning 3 of our regulars turned out to help out at parkrun.

Adam was marshaling, James was running but paced Lauren from our c25k club to her very first 5k. We'll done Lauren šŸ‘.

Liam also ran and did barcode scanning after.

Do come along next time if you can.

Liam Davenport done a 6 month mission streak.

Liam just completed a six month streak of doing missions. Thatā€™s so many bags of garden rubbish cleared and jobs done to help someone out and put a smile on their face. Give Liam a cheer to encourage them to keep up the good work.

Jubilee Parkrun

Woking Report written by James McCloud

This morning Liam and James met along the way to parkrun.

The weather was drizzly but with the next nearest parkrun being cancelled, and the Jubilee weekend vibe, this was sure to be a fun event.

Chatter quickly turned to Liams first daughter being due to arrive at the end of the month and how the preparations are going.

Looks like him and his lovely partner Ruth, have everything in hand, and we send them our best wishes.

Anyway, back to the parkrun. It started off well with me getting off to a really fast start, perhaps a little too fast as I had to slow down, and Liam cruelly got past me on the 2nd lap of the 3 lap course. I tried my best but was not able to catch him up again!

Having both finished reasonably quickly, it was all smiles at the end as we took our posts to do the barcode scanning for the remaining participants.

Great event and always nice to give it a little support, see you on a future one.

Chilly Park Runā€¦šŸ„¶

Woking Report written by Wayne

Junior Park Park.....

8 GG Woking members carried out volunteering duties on this bright but chilly morning. It was great to see Liam back at the junior park run. Rich & Victoria were back marshaling after their successful roles as race directors last weekend. James was back on official time keeping duties, and showing others how the role is carried out. Alys took on the role as the tail walker, but there was more running than walking.

Wednesday we are at Brookwood Station so sign up if you can.

Down in the jungleā€¦

Woking Report written by Woking runner

As a special football match was taking place at 8pm, we met earlier than usual.

Becky, Liam, James and Anne worked through the newly grown jungle (our plot in the allotment!). We were astonished to see all the work done previously had disappeared so quickly. One bonus: Becky and Liam gathered some wild flowers to enjoy at home.

On James's suggestion, we gave ourselves some achievable targetsā€¦ we each took a specific row and cleared most of the non-edible plants ā€“or what we thought were non-edible plants.

We did our very best but the football was calling (some of us). So after one hour of continuous hard work (well done Team GG Woking!) we decided to gather our copious crops and aimed for home.

Happy running to everyone.
