Do good in our wonderful borough

A last minute change of plan didn't deter us from heading out into the borough and doing good! Armed with our trusty litter pickers we headed to Ladywell Fields. I trailed behind and once I got to Ladywell Fields everyone was busy litter picking.
We tackled either side of the park up to the running track and then up and over the curly bridge to see what litter awaited us there but also to see the nest of birds built on a shopping trolley in the river alongside a chicken shop wrapper (presumably there to remind the chicks of their home town of Lewisham). Sadly the recent rain has washed away the nest โน
After trying to fit all our rubbish in the bins so that the foxes didn't spoil our efforts, we headed our separate ways, the group back to Glass Mill and Vic and I in the direction of Catford.
Next week we are heading up and over the hill(s) to Seniors!

Double task week and a double new GG-er's week - my favourite kind of week. Welcome Kirsti and Olga, we hope to see you at many more group runs!
In the continued saga of my Kim-jury, I was taking public transport to the task after being told I'm not allowed to cycle. Paul and Oli kindly led their groups to the correct tasks - thank you!
The tasks for this evening were to clear the litter at The Albany and clear the weeds at Florence Green. Fortunately for the hedges but unfortunately for us, the dry weather had meant that there weren't as many weeds as we expected!
Don't forget it's the grand opening party of Florence Green on Sunday!

A small but mighty group headed up and over the hills to Seniors to tackle the big tasks in the garden. Our visits mean that the Gardening Team don't have to be turning the compost or digging the vegetable beds.
We ran and cycled over to Seniors to be greeted by Alice and team who needed our help with the compost, planting sweetcorn and tomatoes, planting a herb garden and watering the garden.
We got stuck into it and before long Oli was an expert at planting plants following Alice's process and even managed to not get any of the stinky but nutrient dense alkinet "tea" on him.
After some confusion with the hosepipe and lawnmower, it was time to down tools and pick up our mode of transport for the group photo. Once we were assembled and multiple photos taken it was time to bid our farewells.
Some of us tackled the hills to Glass Mill and one of us enjoyed the down hill cycle to Catford...
