I'm just out here looking to help out as best I can, wherever I can, whenever I can!
This is a great starter session for our host the Phoenix Cinema which is a charitable trust looking to support the community. It’s a fantastic building and one of the oldest purpose-built cinemas in the country (if not the world! ) Come and see this historical building and help keep it in business.
We will be flyering for the Phoenix cinema helping them to keep their costs down and keeping us fit. This is potentially good for both walkers and runners alike.
Come for a chat and refreshment after the mission with discounted food and drink at the Phoenix café.
A few GoodGym members came together to do some yoga online thanks for coming!
I see the grass beneath me I smell the winter sky And think to myself Don't pass me by
You don’t know what tomorrow holds. You don’t know how many more of these moments you’ll get. So grab them while they are here. Look while you can. Drink them in while you can. Don’t let the stillness pass you by.

We will look to do some group exercise if time allows.
A Tourist likes nothing better than exploring new areas and meeting new people, and that's what Cassandra has been doing. Cassandra has been to three different GoodGym areas now - nice!
GoodGymers along with other volunteers met in the Stepney City Farm office for refreshments, ice breakers and a briefing of the next 3 hours ahead. We were then given a comprehensive tour of the premises before beginning our first and main task clearing leaves from the paths - whilst trying not to obstruct the visitors. (The Farm had a Farmers market, restaurant and classes going on – so it was a hive of activity whilst we were there). Once we completed our initial task - we had another short break before collecting rosehips (for making jam, tea etc.), and feeding pigs and rabbits. (I was given the chance to hold one of the cute rabbits – a true delight!) All in all, it was an enjoyable and rare opportunity to understand the workings of a City Farm through a variety of volunteering activities – which meant we never got bored during our 3 hours there.
There will be another volunteering session next Saturday*. Please see details here:
*Please note the expectation is that you will be there from 1-4pm – so please do not sign up unless you can commit to the full 3 hours).
This was my second mission with the good gym. I met some fabulous people as there were other volunteers from the school along with us
The school cycle track was very overgrown and it was difficult to see the path, buy the end of the afternoon the track was very visible and the kids were already starting to use it again

If you want to know more or seek clarification please ring me on (07768) 353108.
Planting completed on the 24th of February with the help of Earthwatch, Barnet Council and most importantly lots of local people.
Thank you to those who have helped support the Tiny Forest creation. Now it’s time to support it through it’s early stages of life.
This will involve regular activities through the calendar year. Looking to engage the local community with citizen science and other environmental activities.
The agreed location is Henlys corner junction of A406 and the Finchley Road
Here is a precise what3words address, made of 3 random words. Every 3 metre square in the world has its own unique what3words address.
A Tiny Forest is a dense and rapidly growing native woodland in a small area. It will provide a protected habitat for wildlife, capture carbon, filter the air of harmful particulates and reduce flooding and soil loss.
Besides these important local effects, it is symbolic of our need to protect our wider environment and it is hoped it will provide an education and emotional engagement of our community. It’s also something that we will have to physically nurture as a group. Its a great fit for Goodgym!
If you have ideas about how to promote this planting to the community please also get in touch. We want schools, community groups, artisans, news media and others to get involved.
Thanks to Daniel Mermelstein for introducing the idea to Goodgym Barnet.
