Aim to meet for a 7pm start at the wike lane parking ( https://w3w.co/chopper.cemented.nearing)
It’s approximately 1/2 on road and 1/2 through woody trails :)
See you there!
There is a lot of options for this run depending on how people are feeling on the day. We'll meet in the amphitheatre behind the tearooms (what3words///images.awake.shot) and can then run the parkrun route, which is 2 laps, or do a loop that incorporates some more of the trails. So the route will be between 5 and 8km. Please walk or cycle if you can, but there is also plenty of free parking along the road near the running track.
Though it would be good to do a group training session now we’re allowed! I could certainly do with the motivation!
Looking forward to seeing you all again in person!
Meet you at the normal park run bandstand for a 6:30 start!
Bethany has helped keep other people motivated, Bethany has noticed what others have done and cheered 10 people. We doff our caps to you Bethany.
On this lovely sunny autumnal Sunday, a team of 9 Goodgymmers joined forces with Litter Free Pudsey and The Waste Team, to clean up a wooded area of Swinnow.
After a quick briefing from LFP, we loaded up with litter picks and bin bags, and quickly set about filling them up.
With Tom and Adam deep in the brambles, pulling out car parts and mattreses, a bloodcurdling scream came from Jenny after finding a creepy looking jaw bone. Dracula Rob found this particularly hilarious! And it kept in line with the Halloween theme, with some fancy dress action going on.
After an hour and a half of wombling away, the area was all done; managing to fill one of The Waste Team's vans with all the rubbish!
A job well done, and hopefully the first of many with Litter Free Pudsey.
Helping out Litter Free Pudsey (and The Waste Team) with a halloween community pick around Swinnow, Pudsey.
We will be working on the wooded area behind the flats that are on the corner of Swinnow Lane and Hough Top.
- Tools will be provided
- Fancy dress optional (but encouraged)
- Prize for the best costume
Bethany is a now a fully fledged GoodGym runner. They've just run to do good for the first time. They are out there making amazing things happen and getting fit at the same time.
Bethany completed a community mission. Instead of watching TV or lying in bed, Bethany was out there making their community a better place to be. For making that choice they have earned the community cape.
So, a good day for it this time, the rain yesterday hadn’t turned everything quite to a total mudbath as feared, two tasks were on the cards for today – Group one set off transporting wheelbarrows and builders bags full of compost from the back of the container round to the bay we helped build a few weeks ago.
I can be a spreader (Damu)
Group two moved up to the allotments to help weed out as much as they could between the ACTUAL VEGETABLES GROWING IN THE ALLOTMENT(!!) definitely the first time we’ve seen evidence of it transforming from a patch of mud, in the dark, covered in plastic sheeting, with rocks on it, to an allotment – great to see!! Rachel managed to hunt down the Courgette of Destiny which she promptly presented to Jenny.
Really good to see Ellie and Bethany joining us today – you’re welcome back anytime! Also great to see Amy back on UK soil, and joining us again from York. Under duress, I was tracked down and finally forced to wear the cape of good deeds, and having checked the next recipient it’s likely to come down to either Katy, or Amy if she comes over from the dark side..
Following this we had an absolute blast round the assault course that none of us had really noticed before, there aren't many missions where you that get to do that! Looking forward to a head torch version in a few weeks time ;)
