Help with the Rehoboth restoration

Sun 23 May 10:00 am
Farsley Rehoboth Cemetery, 1 Coal Hill Lane, Leeds, LS28 5NA
Help with the Rehoboth graveyard restoration to enable people to safely pay their respects and enjoy the area

The neglected Rehoboth grave yard on Farsley’s Coal Hill Lane is now getting the makeover it deserves. GoodGym have been asked to help with the Rehoboth graveyard restoration.

The Rehoboth team meet regularly, but are always in need of extra hands - and this is where we come in. The tasks that we will be getting involved with on Sunday, will depend on what is being done by the rest of the Rehoboth team, but will be manual tasks such as rebuilding walls, moving materials or gardening.

There are lots of tasks still to be done, so our support is greatly appreciated. They will have an experienced volunteer in charge. Please wear a fluorescent jacket - if you have one, and gardening gloves.

You can find out more about the Rehoboth on their Twitter page: https://twitter.com/FarsleyOf or read this article: https://westleedsdispatch.com/community-spirit-is-key-to-progress-at-farsley-rehoboth-burial-ground/

The Farsley Baptist Rehoboth Burial Ground is located on the junction of Coal Hill Lane/Bagley Lane, Farsley, Leeds, West Yorkshire LS28 5NA - there are toilets and parking spots near by. It is also easily accessed from the Leeds-Liverpool canal for those of you running, walking or cycling!

Tug of war with cables

Sun 9 May
Report written by Gemma

This morning two GoodGym members cycled over to Farsely Rehoboth to help out with their restoration work.

Suzie and Gemma helped to get the site, which is undergoing extensive clearing and renovation work, supplied with electricity. The electricity supply will be used for power tools and for supplying hot water for volunteers, amongst other essential things. Suzie and Gemma did this by working with other volunteers to coax and pull a cable through a 200m section of underground piping - like a controlled tug of war.

Suzie and Gemma were also shown around the rest of the site and were able to see how the work of other GoodGym members had made a difference.

GoodGym Leeds will be returning to the Rehoboth on May 23rd!

Temple Newsam training run

Wed 12 May 18:30 pm
Temple Newsam Park, Temple Newsam Road, Leeds, LS15 0AE
A fun mix of trails and paths and maybe pigs!

There is a lot of options for this run depending on how people are feeling on the day. We'll meet in the amphitheatre behind the tearooms (what3words///images.awake.shot) and can then run the parkrun route, which is 2 laps, or do a loop that incorporates some more of the trails. So the route will be between 5 and 8km. Please walk or cycle if you can, but there is also plenty of free parking along the road near the running track.

Help with the Rehoboth restoration

Help with the Rehoboth graveyard restoration and get electric on site

The neglected Rehoboth grave yard on Farsley’s Coal Hill Lane is now getting the makeover it deserves. GoodGym have been asked to help with the Rehoboth graveyard restoration.

The Rehoboth team meet regularly, but are always in need of extra hands - and this is where we come in. The tasks that we will be getting involved with on Sunday, will depend on what is being done by the rest of the Rehoboth team, but will be manual tasks such as rebuilding walls, moving materials or gardening.

This Sunday, the team have a specific need for four “fit and co-ordinated” people for a specific task which should only take an hour. The task will involve pulling 75 meters of electric cabling through the same length of buried plastic ducting which is roped along its length to connect to the cable. The cable will not be live.

The installation of electrics will be a game changer for their work, and they will have a very experienced volunteer in charge.
