Last nights task was simple enough, 4 groups at 4 stations across the borough handing out programmes for Brockley Max festival which is an arts festival taking place around the Brockley area over 2 weeks, even with an international artist.
The first group headed over to Brockley station to hand out programmes there after collecting them from a nearby pub, they managed 2 boxes of programmes - fantastic work!
The rest of us headed towards Ladywell to drop off the Ladywell station group and to make sure they got the programmes without issue. Next up the group split to Honor Oak and Crofton Park (with a slight detour to Brockley Rock to pick up the programmes).
After a slight mix up with the programmes at Honor Oak Park and a quick extra run to deliver half our programmes from Crofton Park, we were all ready to go!
It was quiet on the streets of Crofton Park but it didn't stop Olivia being the star programme hand outer and speeding through our programmes.
The Honor Oak group came back to Crofton Park once they'd handed all theirs out and then we headed back to Ladywell to collect the Ladywell team. Just in time to help them with a double train arrival.
Great work tonight everyone! Next week we're heading to a brand new task at the PNK Garden.
Welcome to GoodGym Lewisham!
We're a friendly and social group who combine exercise with helping out in the local community. We meet every Monday evening to get active and do a physical task to help the charities and community organisations in our area.
Our group run this week is taking us to various stations around the borough, we’re going to be handing out flyers for Brockley Max.
GoodGym is for everyone. We welcome runners of all abilities and it is sometimes possible to walk to the task if you would prefer. We always have a back-marker so no-one is left behind - we're about achieving something together, so you'll always be welcome no matter what your pace is.
We meet at Glass Mill Leisure Centre at 6.45pm, so a short walk from Lewisham Station. We have access to lockers and changing facilities, so you could easily drop in on your way home (bring a pound coin or padlock if you want to use the lockers). As it's a bank holiday, we will not have access to Glass Mill, travel lightly
Look out for the red t-shirts, we're very friendly! Every so often we head out after our run for some food and drink, a chance to get to know each other a bit better.
See you soon!
Three GoodGymmers gathered outside the cafe in Hilly Fields to complete a quick litter picking loop of the park to keep it looking beautiful.
Litter was in short supply (well done to the users of the park, taking your litter home!) until we reached a section with an abundance of litter.
Loop of the park complete, we deposited our bags of litter and went our separate ways into the weekend.
Bring along some gloves for a post-parkrun litter-pick to clear the course and make the park look that bit tidier! We'll meet up by the cafe at 10am - look out for the red tshirts!
Of, course, take care when picking up litter, don't pick up anything you're not sure about and look out for sharp objects.
Our international medal monday-er's weren't in attendance last night but Marta and Jenny battled 31degrees heat on Sunday to complete Lisbon half marathon! Go give them a huge cheer.
Francesca also started the week with double good deeding and spent the day helping Salvation Army in Catford brighten up the front. We'll hopefully be heading back to help finish the job. Great work!
We started the evening with a quick warm up that ended with star jumps to get us moving. It was a longer (and hilly) run this evening and on a warm evening it was pretty tough going but we made it there and back in one piece!
As always, the list of tasks to get stuck into at Seniors is always a varied one, we had: - Miguel turning the compost heap and then watering the veg - Sam Sam repotting the seedlings - Julian and Francesca cleaning the windows inside and then moving onto sanding a bench (ready for us hopefully painting on our next visit) - Oli x2, Adam and Steve tackling the overgrown beds and removing the stubborn grass and weeds
After group photos on 3 different phones, it was time for us to make our way back over the hill and down to Glass Mill. The temptation to stop at Mamma Dough for pizza was high but we'll save that for a couple of weeks time.
We're heading back to Seniors on 13th June.
