Mark and I arrived at the mission ready to move an old bed downstairs to make room for a shiny new hospital bed...only to be told it has already been done. However, the man from the Red Cross double checked and it turned out that although the new bed was in, the old bed was still there so there was still missioning to be done.

After facing different directions in a definitely-not-two-metre-friendly lift, we set to work dismantling the bed with the Allen keys provided...except they didn't work. Not fancying the lift, we carried the mattress and base slats down some stairs...only to end up at an alarmed fire door. Back up a floor and back in the lift, we put the bed bits where they were supposed to be and found a staircase that we could actually use.

Climbing four floors, we then had to carry the complete frame all the way back down (passing a group of builders who provided the pun for the report). Handily, a bed frame is about 2 metres, so social distancing was maintained as we twisted and turned it down an ever-narrowing stairwell. Final manoeuvres saw the frame reunited with its slats and mattress, ready to be taken away.
