14 people ran 7k, cleared 10 rubbish bags of green waste from an allotment in 20 mins and did 4 x 400m intervals.

An excellent session at GoodGym Tower Hamlets this evening, with 14 of us, including some new faces, running a 3.5k route through London Fields up to the allotments at Rectory Road. At one point we were told to cross over onto the other side of the road, as a new Nike running advert was being filmed - sadly they didn't ask us to be in it, but we didn't really have time to stop anyway with the task in hand!

"With gusto"

We only had 20 minutes at the allotments, so with rakes, forks and plenty of green sacks, we set to work with gusto, making a very good start on weeding and clearing the site. Along with GGHackney, we will be returning over the course of the winter on a number of occasions to get the whole thing done.

"Muscle Burn"

For the run back we did four intervals of about 400m (thankfully getting progressively shorter as we got more and more tired), running at 'gear 3' - i.e. hard enough not to be able to say more than a few words while running, but not so hard as to cause muscle burn. We split into two groups for these, which ended up being a straight split between girls and boys, like a throwback to the school discos of our youth.

"Worn out"

Each time the second group set off twenty seconds later and tried to catch up with the first group. Everyone was starting to feel a bit worn out by the final interval, but the long straight path back to the top of Broadway Market gave a good goal to focus on to give ourselves one last push to the end. From there we had a gentle jog back to the Arch and a few stretches.
