Woking Junior Parkrun #179

This morning 6 GoodGym members including Lauren, a new member to GoodGym helped with Woking Junior Parkrun event #179.

It was really nice to welcome Lauren to the team as she was a graduate of the recent Couch to 5k program we did in conjunction with No Sweat Running Community. We will be starting our own program for beginner and returning runners soon. (Just waiting on my LiRF licence).

I think its important to note that while we always manage to support this regular event, that there were in total, 28 volunteers today to make it a success.

Not all volunteers are adults, some are actually the young people that take part in the event, and this makes for a lovely symmetry which I find motivates me to help out as often as possible.

Today I would like to highlight the efforts of one young man, Ethan.

Always a popular and regular participant and helper, I have especially become aware of the huge positive force he brings to the event each week in the 2 times that I have been Run Director. Always helpful, always positive, and always makes my job easier.

This week he wrote the parkrun run report in addition to his regular warmup leading role, and I thought it would be nice to include his report here:

We had an amazing, sunny start today well done to all 84 of our amazing Runners, Joggers and walkers!

Today, we had 6 first timers and 15 new personal bests with 1 half marathon given to John Cooper and a Marathon given to Zachary Street-Crocker.

Today`s first finisher Matthew Hickman came round in a speedy 7:54 achieving a new PB followed by our first Female finisher Grace Andrews in 8:57 who was a first timer here at Woking!

All of the children did amazingly well in the heat.
