Autumn is definitely here, and what could be better than the crunch of leaves underfoot, the crisp air in your lungs and a lovely long run?

That's just how we kicked off the week in Wandsworth last night, but before we could set off on the first leg of our 10k run, there were some celebrations to be had.

A big welcome to Adam and Kees who joined us for their first GoodGym run last night - give them a cheer!

David has been absolutely motoring through the good deeds this past month, and has got his wings. That's right, he has smashed over 100 good deeds, thereby making his community over a hundred times better. What a champ!

It was a slightly longer run than usual last night, so we set of sharpish, but not before a warm up. While we were getting our hearts rates up, we did a quick poll of the group to find out which one word we'd all use to describe ourselves. Turns out we're happy, friendly, quiet, loud, taller, taller, complicated, creative, impatient, grumpy and cheerful. No wonder Monday nights are so fun!

It was one of our favourite tasks last night - the Work and Play Scrapstore promotes re-use for environmental, community and artistic benefit. It supplies donated re-useable surplus materials otherwise destined for incineration, landfill or long-term storage to a wide range of groups such as schools, charities, community groups, arts organisations, students and families. Plus it's a pretty amazing glittery cave of every single type of material you could hope for.

It was a steady 5k down there with PBs for some of the group - brilliant running Helen and Hannah - with Jamie kindly backmarking for us. We soon arrived and got stuck in to various jobs - destapling, organising tiles, tidying the rolls of wallpaper, sorting out a massive load of tarpaulin and unfolding cardboard boxes. It was pretty soothing work, and the time flew by. In the blink of a spangly eye, we were done and ready to tackle the next section of running.

After a good mile of nice even running we stopped by Earlsfield station to divide the group. Those that needed to be back on time or didn't want to run the whole distance hopped on the 5 minute train back to Clapham Junction, while the rest of us split into two groups. New King's trainer (hurrah!) Alyx took half the group, and we all set off towards the BAC, knowing there were two insidious hills ahead of us. It was no match for the Wandsworth quads though, and we were soon back for a stretch and cake to celebrate David's achievement and Sophie's birthday last week. After all that running, we certainly earned it.

Don't forget there is the monthly social this Tuesday in Angel - it's a great chance to meet up with GGers from all the other boroughs, cheer Wandsworth on in the international pun of the month, and to hear about the world record breaking achievements of a GoodGymer. Don't miss out!

Next week we're running to help out a local school, for more doing good and getting fit, sign up here.
