Today we made yet another attempt at emptying and reconstructing the wooden composting bin at the Greenfields Garden.

James, Louise and our new member Emma took upon themselfes to remove any remaining unwanted bits of compost. The well rotted compost was actually wanted and transported onto the vegetable path.

Meanwhile Michal and Cara undertook a detailed stock of available wood and sifted bad wood from good wood. A myriad of wooden planks of various shape and length has been carefully piled up and long timber planks sawed into appropriate length, all in readiness for the long awaited reconstruction of the composting bin structure.

While all that was happening Maddy, Lucy, Leanne and Laura went to do what every community allotment needs at this time of year - weeding. Some raspberry bushes were rescued from the tall growing horsetail and a path of strawberries was discovered amongst what looked like mare's tail and butter cup path. Strawberry plants have good size fruits on them which will now have access to much needed light to ripen and be ready for watchful black birds to snack on them before humans.

We did not do any overtime today and finished in time for a well deserved training session including movements to strengthen out legs and abdominal muscles and some continuous pace running.
