An excellent crew of 9 people assembled this evening to continue our work on the canal helping The William Hobbayne Charity to clear overgrown land around new trees.

This was our third visit this year and we're really getting there with cutting everything back and allowing the trees more space to grow efficiently!

It was shear joy to see everyone enjoying being outside and making a difference but we were also being extra careful in case of any nesting birds. It didn't take long for us to find a little nest (and a little egg!) so we made sure that area stayed untouched and continued to carefully cut back the other overgrown areas away from it.

After an hour of hard work we stepped back to see the difference and it really was incredible to see how much had been stripped back and how many small trees had been rediscovered and given a better chance to grow.

We finished by raking up all the cuttings and made a big pile which will rot down over the next few weeks and hopefully make a nice habitat for lots of creepy crawlies!
