I picked up Mr R's shopping list via email from GoodGym and needed to clarify one item so telephoned in advance - what on earth was corned beef in syrup?! Google had been no help. Mr R confirmed that it was plain corned beef so off to the supermarket I went.

I managed to get all of Mr R's shopping list and hot footed it around as he'd mentioned that he was waiting on the delivery to make a cuppa as he was all out of milk.

I eventually arrived at Mr R's place. Sat nav had sent me to the wrong area and coupled with it being the most confusing and complicated estate to navigate, I was a little delayed!

Mr R was pleased to see me and when the bags were unloaded, he asked me to help him put everything away. Everything had its place and we made sure that it was all within easy reach. Now that the fridge and freezer were replenished, I helped Mr R put his dinner on to cook and whilst the oven was heating up, we had a lovely chat. Mr R proudly told me all about his Duke of Edinburgh awards and how he'd met the Duke himself on several occasions, including being invited for tea in Windsor! The Duke had also introduced him to 'his missus!'

Mr R's tea was nearly ready so it just remained for me to loosen some of the jars and open some of the packets so that it was easier for him to re-open after I'd left.

Mr R was utterly charming and it was reassuring to know that he now had some food supplies for the week ahead.
