9 Islington and Camden Goodgym folks logged onto Zoom this morning to catch up with our weekly happenings.

There has been a lot of running this week, possibly inspired by the slight lifting of exercise restrictions by the government this week. Graham and Steve C met up for a socially distanced run around Finsbury Park this morning, with warm shop-bought croissants as a post run treat.

Trainer Simon has been logging miles around town as part of the Team Goodgym Miles for Mind challenge, aiming to run 200 miles in May. Loads of Goodgymmers nationwide have signed up to the challenge, so it will be really great to see how far we can run collectively.

John has been combining his running with loads of missions across town (he is also participating in #milesformind #teamgoodgym). These included a triple mission day on Friday, traveling between Richmond, Hanwell and Ealing and back to Camden for good deeds with various GG groups. Nicely done John!

We were briefly joined by Claire (who popped on James' screen) before she headed out for her first big run after the Vancouver Half Marathon virtual event las week. Steve C extended his thanks for their gift of New Zealand ginger cake treats- described as the sweetest food he has ever tasted!

Other running related challenges coming up in the next few weeks:

Hackney Half "Hackney Moves for Heroes" Challenge

A free event to sign up to, promoting Homerton Hope Hospital. Run a 5km or a Half Marathon between 1st June and 5th June, and make sure it has been recorded on Strava or a similar activity tracking app.

Sign up here to register and get involved.

Goodgym 48 hour Relay Challenge

A nationwide 2 day virtual relay, starting on Saturday 23rd May (midday), and finishing on Monday 25th May (midday), set up by the folks at GG Leeds. The objective is to have a runner running at all times every 30 minutes. However, you can run as many 30 minute slots as you like, as long as you are completing a loop every half hour.

Sign up here for more information about the event.

Our London based team, set up by Goodgym Lambeth, still have a few slots available for more runners if you want to get involved.

Here is a spreadsheet for all of the available slots. We also have a Whatsapp group to join for event.

Contact Mark G (GG Lambeth Trainer) using this email or Simon F (GG Islington Trainer) using this email if you have any questions, or want to be added to the Whatsapp group.

Thanks again everyone. It is always a pleasure to catch up with you every Saturday at 10am.
