The day’s weather set the tone for the evening as the GoodGym runners hit Lambeth like a tornado of good.

21 people turned up. Four tasks were completed with gusto. Over 80 miles were covered and 22 hot cross buns were consumed… along with some bubbles to celebrate Beth doing over 100 good deeds for Goodgym…. Well done Beth.

Group one – Portico Gallery, West Norwood. 5.5 miles. Report by Elise.

A core four of us took on the never-ending Tulse Hill back to the Portico Gallery in West Norwood (but still in daylight hooray!) As we arrived, right on cue, John pulled up in his convertible and raced us down to the back entrance where tables, gazebos and paraphernalia were stacked ready for the upcoming 'Big Feast'. Wisely planning for 'all seasons in a day', John prioritised our efforts on making up more sandbags to hold down the gazebos for the community day. With the light fading, we shovelled peddles into a respectful 15 bags (double saddlebags so really at least 30) then battled the wind back to base. A disappointing success for team leader George who'd been exempted for 'wayward losses' on his first led task.

Group two - Holland Park Estate. 3.5 miles

Great work done by the Holland estate gang who headed up towards Oval to help weed and clean up Janet’s garden. This is a task that has such a tangiable impact as Janet (and Ameena who organised the task) really appreciate the help we are doing and it’s making a massive difference to the quality of her life, especially with Summer just around the corner. Well done gang.

Group three – Wyck Park and Somerleyton Road. 3 miles. Report by Alex.

The new season is upon us, the sun was shinning and the wind was blowing. A bakers dozen trotted off to Wyck Gardens where we were met by a charming, smiling lady with a wheel barrow full of tools. 'I have gloves for you this time' she declared. Which was met with a cheer. Those that were familiar with the task from the previous week jumped into action; and promptly directed the rest into action. Grass was removed, weeds were dug out and the soil was turned. It was at this point that the group split, ready to tackle another task.

The fraction group, from Wyck Gardens, to arrive at the Somerleyton Road carpark having somehow doubled in size (Number of the group, not weight). They set about clearing and weeding, before the others joined them again. The car park is to become a community night market, situated across from Brixton Village.
