Find out about GoodGym TaskForce
We had a blooming marvellous start to 2015 planting bulbs and moving plants at Hollybush Estate.
Tasked with planting dozens of pots from one wheelbarrow of soil, one half of the group quickly realised gardening is not for pansies. However, we had spades of enthusiasm and got instant grass-ification when we set up a production line, quickly falling in (gardening g)love with the task. Before long we’d (long-distance-)run out space in the green house as well as running out of bulbs and soil. We almost started to think about throwing in the trowel but we quickly got to the root of the problem and bulble bulble soil and trouble magically found some more space, before asking if the community centre had botany more bulbs. It just took a bit of thyme, but – like a scarecrow – we were outstanding in our field.
Also in the garden, the other half of the group did a plantastic job of moving heavy planters and ornaments. They didn’t hedge their bets, apart from occasionally branching out to clown around with the weird and wonderful ornaments.
We all really dug the gardening section of the night, but decided to go back to our Goodgym roots and leaf for a run to the canal. Water gorgeous route! All in all a good jog well done. Sorry we didn’t weed out all the bad gardening puns and it seems we ran out of jogging puns.
Tower Hamlets GoodGym. Because we’re earth it.
