Another week, another post-work mission! 😄🎉 This week's edition was with the awesome Rob, who's also currently in the midst of his own mission spree (today's was his second in two days). Nice one, Rob! 😄

Today we were helping Mrs K in Islington. Mrs K has had several health issues this year, including being hospitalised following some respiratory issues. Consequently, she hasn't been able to keep up with her gardening, and so her rear garden has become very overgrown. GoodGym were asked if we could help out.

After making our introductions to Mrs K, we were ready to get to work! Truthfully, Mrs K was a little surprised that we were willing to start work so late in the day, but she happily showed us through to her garden so that we could cop a gander at the job. She also blessed us with a variety of tools and a seemingly infinite amount of bags to put the waste in 😍 (is it sad that these things make me happy? 🤷)

As there was far too much to do for one mission, we decided to focus on the area closest to the doorway so that Mrs K could at least enter her garden safely.

Over the course of 90 minutes, Rob and I chopped down more things than you could shake a newly cut stake at (Rob definitely shook at least one newly sliced sappling at the garden (see gif), but, honestly, he probably needs to commit to it more for the lolz 🧐😏😉). Aside from the saplings, we also chopped down a load of lilies and a seemingly infinite number of weeds that were probably still in their prime.

As we worked, we gradually uncovered a multitude of intriguing items. Rob was particularly taken by a Buddha figurine, while I adored a piece of plastic that (I thought) looked like an angry bird. I don't know what this says about our respective personalities, but I believe that it means that I have a much longer commute than Rob 😅

Finishing up, we showed Mrs K our work. Mrs K was really happy with what we'd done, and hoped that some more GoodGymmers will be able to come back and clear some more of her garden relatively soon. Hopefully they'll uncover more treasure as they do!

It was fun working with you, Rob - hope your post-mission 10k training run went well! 😄
