Find out about GoodGym TaskForce
Report written by Sam Lefevre (he/him)
To wrap up a weekend of drizzle and sunshine, four GoodGymers met outside Surrey Docks City Farm to help out Becs with some gardening and animal clean up tasks.
It was Gaby's first time at the Farm, so we made sure she took the fun job of cleaning and sweeping the animal yard with Laura. They had curious sheep, goats and kids getting in the way of their task.
Meanwhile, Lucia and Sam helped out Becs with clearing the boundaries of the allotment area of the Farm. They had to tackle through nettles, weeds and random branches whilst keeping an eye not to take out the young hedges growing there. After clearing around 1/4 of the task, they went over to the Orchard to get woodchip to lay down on the parts they cleared to ensure the sunlight wouldn't reach the soil and therefore, re-grow the weeds!
The Farm task is on next Sunday the 23rd of May, so be sure to sign up if there are any drop outs! ☺️
Surrey Docks Farm is run by a charity and provides education for school children, young people and adults with learning difficulties. Our work helps with essential maintenance and helps them keep the farm operating.
