Find out about GoodGym TaskForce
Two gardening tasks this week!
So we started as a fairly slim team at the lovely Town Hall Hotel as usual, then slimmed even more to a humble 4 heading off to a local resident's garden, and the rest jetting off to Tower Hamlets Cemetery. Which apparently isn't a cemetery at all? Although, as part of the four that visited the local resident, when the rest were nowhere to be see by the time we got back, I did fear what early graves Tom may have sprinted them into…! We four definitely have some catching up to do next week.
At the local residents we tackled a very weedy garden. If only we'd taken some pictures as we wrestled some big weeds and nagged on those frustratingly tricky dandelions, we cleared the area pretty well. All the while learning some of the crazy facts Anna's kids and the radio tell her on a daily basis: so if you're interested in ladybirds, Cambridge University are trying to catch the pesky Harlequin that's kicking out our native ladybird and need your help to count!
After some sweet squash we had a big hug from our very very grateful resident, who seemed simply astounded at how different it looked, and was very excited about being able to use the space again. Her smile is what makes the Good Gym so worth it.
Saying our goodbyes, we headed along the canal looking for our fellow goodgymmers, but to no avail, even after quite a distance up the other way. So back to the hotel, feeling slightly guilty, we'll definitely have to make up for it next week.

The remainder of the group dashed down to Tower Hamlets Cemetery Park, via Mile End Green Bridge hill! can pulled up nasty nettles to clear a new walk way for local residents through the park. We also helped reinstall a fence that had been removed to help keep the park free cars, trucks or other unwanted vehicles! After 30 minutes of hard weeding we ran up to the canal to complete some sort, hard, fast interval running before drifting back, tired but happy to the Town Hall Hotel!
