10 GoodGymers and 2 furry supporters were back at the brambles in Gunnersbury Park, full of energy on a beautiful sunny evening. JP from Richmond joined in again this week, clearly he can’t get enough brambles, same as the rest of the group from Hounslow. The blackberries were a bonus again this week, and we started the task looking for the juicy ripe ones to taste test. Now we are bramble attacking experts we managed to clear a huge amount of brambles using the secateurs and rakes provided. We quickly realised the brambles had been hiding an al fresco toilet spot that people had presumably been using during lockdown when there were no facilities open. What a prickly issue! Another problem we uncovered was lots of litter, hopefully the lack of brambles to chuck it in will deter people now. Michelle kept the energy levels high with her homemade flap jacks, which were delightful, so that by the end we filled 5 big bags. After stopping for some photos for evidence of our achievement we popped all the tools back in the North Lodge. We’ll be back again next Wednesday to continue the bramble-y fun! Word of warning - long leggings advised to avoid lots of scratches!
