Today's first task at City Harvest was sorting fruit and veggies that were left overs from a market - some were still perfectly fresh, others had seen better days...

After the pallets were cleared, then came the task of repacking the boxes to have a mix of stuff. After all, what can anyone make with 50 packets of broccoli?! There was A LOT of courgettes to go around though

''big ones, small ones, some as big as your head!''

Each box had at least three or four of varying sizes. Courgetti spaghetti, ratatouille and courgette cake on the menu for the recipients!

Just as the courgette mountain had been depleted, in came an Amazon delivery of three pallets full! Thankfully only some of it needed sorting quickly, so it could go in the fridge. By the end of the shift, only fruit and veg remained, ready for the next shift of volunteers to work through.
