As Liverpool sizzled on a baking Bank Holiday Monday, a fearless trio beat the heat to do some good deeds.

Arriving at our base - the Hope Street Hotel - I checked my weather app which said there was a real feel of 26 degrees celsius, making the evening more #RedHot then #RedThunder.

In spite of the heat, I was soon joined by 2 trusty GoodGymers, top-of-the-leader-board Pauline and super fast George (good to have you back).

Before we set out, Emily from Be One Percent came to tell us about the charity we were helping this week. This innovative organisation, based right here in Liverpool, is doing great work to support some of the world's poorest people. And we were to drop flyers advertising their half-term family fundraising event.

Heading out into the heat at a gentle pace, we took a lovely route through Princes Park where hundreds of people were laid out in the evening sun, enjoying drinks and BBQs. Unsurprisingly, there were no other runners in sight. After 3km we arrived at Lark Lane where we managed to post over 100 flyers in 20 minutes.

Ignoring all the folk sat out in beer gardens, we headed to Sefton Park and got stuck into a short fitness session focused on power and changing direction. The run home was still a little sticky but Liverpool with green trees and blue skies is always wonderful, making the run a treat.

NEXT TIME we have the perfect newbie session so let's see how many new people we can get to come along - it's bring your friend to GoodGym week! We'll be returning to the Bombed Out Church to continue helping their groundwork, followed by a fitness session (NO hills, I promise). So sign-up here and ask your friends to sign-up too!
