Having looked up Charlton jnr parkrun and seeing that it was cancelled I headed off to another jnr parkrun. What can be better than a horde of tiny feet thundering across the field? So joyful and responsive to the warmth and encouragement of the parkrun team. It was grateful to be one of the volunteers. Ru and kevin were absolute stars in organising everything with an ease and warmth to all. I was given a top tip by one of the runners and that was that the local cafe does pancakes! Given that it was perishing in the cold wind I was happy to get in the cafe and have flash backs to school dinners as lots of kids voraciously tucked into amazing pancakes that you just sort your own filling out for. Not suprisingling chocolate, squirty cream and sprinkles were popular, i opted for fruit - I know boring huh! but I did have a hot chocolate. parkrun can only happen because of volunteers and it is such a great concept. Glad to have helped out. Now off to suport those amazing marathon runners.
