Parkrun is a global movement of free, weekly, 5k community events held every Saturday morning, with 2k events for children (ages 4–14) on Sundays. Founded in the UK in 2004, it operates on a simple ethos: free for everyone, forever. Participants can walk, jog, run, volunteer or spectate at their own pace. The Bromley parkrun takes place on Saturdays at 9am in Norman Park, a 25-minute walk from Bromley South station. Rock up, support, bag a PB and get to know Bromley's vibrant running community.

Please note: To secure your place you'll need to sign up to volunteer with parkrun as well as via this listing. Details below in the "How to volunteer" section 👇

🏃‍♂️🏃‍♀️ What's this all about?

Bromley parkrun is a free, weekly, timed 5K event on Saturday mornings in Norman Park. It's run completely by volunteers and you'll be made to feel most welcome at this lovely friendly event.

There are plenty of volunteering roles to choose from including marshals, timekeepers, barcode scanners, finish token giver-outers and tail walkers. You'll get a parkrun volunteer credit AND a GoodGym good deed after attending.

If you don't want to miss out on the actual 5K, there are some roles you can do before or after, such as putting out cones, signs or the finish funnel, or collecting and tidying away equipment and sorting tokens. If you're a fast finisher (~20 mins) you could help with barcode scanning or managing the funnel after your run.

📍 When and where

If volunteering, please aim to meet at 08:15 by the finish pavilion in Norman Park. The course is in Norman Park off Hayes Lane/A21 Bromley Common. It is approx. 25 minutes walk from Bromley South station. There are two car parks nearby. Both are free to use but can get very busy and you should only use the designated bays to avoid getting a ticket.

If your Area Activator is not attending, your contact is the Run Director, wearing a blue hi-vis jacket.

🙋‍♀️🙋‍♂️ How to volunteer

Please don't be put off – it's not tricky 😊

  1. If you don't already have a parkrun ID you can register for free at https://www.parkrun.org.uk/register.

  2. Check which volunteering roles still need filling here: https://www.parkrun.org.uk/bromley/futureroster/

Click on the role you're interested in to find out what's involved. Even if the roster is full the organisers are often happy to have extra helpers so get in touch with them anyway.

  1. Send an email to bromley@parkrun.com using the template below to tell them the date and role that you want to volunteer for. The Bromley parkrun volunteer coordinator will reply to confirm the role is available and that they have added you to the roster.

  2. Sign up on this listing - job done!

  3. You will receive a reminder email from Bromley parkrun on the Friday to give you detailed information about volunteering and your role.

Important: If you find you can no longer attend please email Bromley parkrun to tell them, and take your name off the GG listing using the "I can no longer make it" link.

I've recently joined as Area Activator for Bromley and would love to meet and greet the fantastic volunteers who have already been active in the area. If you have time, it would be lovely to grab a coffee after the event at The Trackside Cafe at Norman Park Athletics Track, Hayes Lane BR2 9EJ. It's a short walk (or run) from the finish pavilion. Hope to see you there!
