Today was GoodGym Tower Hamlets' 2nd Big Half training session and we were delighted to welcome 3 new faces who are all ready to tackle the run in spring next year. Welcome to Betty, Sophie and Nathalie who joined our party of 7 for the session today.

It all started with a short run to the Cranbrook Community Food Garden where we had a range of tasks to tackle. The team split into pairs, planting bulbs, emptying containers and shifting compost, after all helping remove the bags of leaves which we'd amassed after a previous task earlier in the month. The team worked at an excellent rate despite the freezing cold; Gabrielle and Domitille expertly planted the dozens of bulbs along the outer garden, while Sophie and Betty made light work of shifting compost out of barrels and relaying it on some beds. Nathalie and Bryon formed an equally formidable team, loosening the compost and shifting it to another pile, ready for use in the garden. After a half hour, we all grouped together to replant a tree in need of a larger pot, then set off for our training run after thanking our wonderful task owners!

Being the second training session, we tackled a longer distance than our usual Monday group runs, covering 9km in a return trip to the Olympic Stadium. It was great to enjoy the winter sunshine in Vicky Park and to share some half marathon tips which I hope were useful!

Thanks to those who came for this lovely Saturday morning session - let's keep it up all the way to the Big Half 2018!
