The Real Junk Food Project
The Real Junk Food Project is the founding Community Interest Company of The Real Junk Food Project global network and has empowered and inspired hundreds of similar projects worldwide. It is a revolutionary concept designed to challenge and highlight the issues of food waste while creating inclusive environments where everyone is welcome. Consisting of cafés, outside catering, events, Sharehouse: TRJFP and Kindness into Schools, it uses the Pay As You Feel Concept to utilise surplus food, educate the general public and campaign against global issues that food waste creates. We intercept surplus food from a wide range of places including supermarkets, restaurants, wholesalers, food banks, food photographers and using common sense and decades of experience make a judgement on whether the food is fit for human consumption.

Please note that this community mission has been cancelled.

TRJFP have over 6000 households registered for Kindness Christmas! With this many food and gift parcels, an army of volunteers is needed.

You will need to complete Food Allergy training to be onsite at TRJFP warehouse. The link for this online training is HERE You will need to bring the certificate with you on the first day you volunteer.

Everyone on site will also need to wear safety boots and a Hi-Vis Jacket. TRJFP have a limited number available so please take your own (and if you have any extra they are always happy to accept donations).

Further training for individual roles will be sent out via email once you register to volunteer.

The address for the warehouse in Stourton, Leeds is: The Real Junk Food Project, Northern Containers Stourton Leeds LS10 1RT

Unfortunately, Kindness Christmas at TRJFP is finishing early (23rd December) and so volunteers will no longer be needed on the 24th.

I apologise for this, however, if you would still like to support TRJFP, they are seeking additional volunteers between now and the 23rd to support with delivering the food and gift parcels.

I will look for an alternative community mission for Christmas eve for all of us to support with.

Thank you for being amazing.

Health and safety is important and please be aware there will be vehicles arriving with deliveries and the forklift truck will be moving about. If the large bay rolltop door is open, please do not walk through this. It is for deliveries only and pedestrian access only. Face masks and social distancing rules apply.

When you get to the main entrance of the site, turn left and keep going until you get to Tuffnells. You then need to turn right, go through the metal gate, and we are on the left hand side. You will see the signs and arrows directing you. Please park along the back metal fence and walk to the building along the white painted walkway. You will see a door with a metal shutter on the outside. Please wait here and Rebecca from TRJFP will come and meet volunteers.
