12 of Newham's finest rolled up yesterday, a somewhat sticky evening to begin with, but gradually developed into a beautiful breezy summer eve.

A change of plan regarding our tasks, it was Mobile Garden City on the agenda. Everyone's favourite community garden, that in theory, is mobile. We warmed up as per norm, then welcomed Verity for her very first session - hope you had a good experience and workout - nice to have you as part of the team.

"What's your favourite childhood toy was this week's question?" Starting with James' Diver Dan... and invitation for a group bath, also had Kerplunk in there, Sylvanians, my remote control Rebound car, Action Man, Lego and Graham's piece of string. 'Tis 'ard 'tup norf.

Once at the gardens, we had a variety of tasks to do - moving furniture, weeding, watering and shearing. People gravitated towards their strengths and the GG Newham machine started to churn through work. A vital 30mins for the gardens, they are completely reliant upon efforts like ours in order to operate. So thanks again for keeping a inavaluable patch of Newham in good nick.

We finished up, someone tried to cycle into me on the pavement, but I played kamikaze with him and won (my inner chat read "please don't hit me, please don't hit me, please don't hit me...MUUUM". After this, we wen off to finish up our session with running circuits, core work, more running circuits and a relay race. Was all short stuff, but quite intense, enough to create some physiological adaptation for most.

Loved the relay efforts, I just love relays in general. Unique in its ability to make you search deeper within yourself, as the emotional aspect of running for others drives you on. Yeah.....I love it. Highlights were Sharon sprinting flat out, whilst simultaneously bellowing "MOVE", to a group of unfortunate school kids in her path. Alice finding a solid gear 5, after her brutal daily 26mile round trip cycle to work! Verity getting thrown straight into the mental mix and responding with a zippy leg. Plus Kev rolling back the years to keep Tim on his toes - sprinting technique was on point. ps. sorry about your broken arse cheek - RICE - fingers crossed!

Sign up to next week's task here.

Have an ace weekend and get those miles in.
