Derby Cathedral
The Cathedral Church of All Saints Derby is a jewel of a building, glittering with life and colour especially when the sun shines through the clear glass windows. There are many fascinating monuments around the walls which tell an unfolding history of a thousand years. As a place of sanctuary and worship, you are invited to visit, and appreciate the calm and space for reflection and prayer. All Saints’ Church was hallowed as a Cathedral in 1927 with the creation of the new Diocese of Derby. Over this time, Derby Cathedral has sought to serve the bishops and parishes of the Diocese, together with all who live and work in the city and county. Everyone is welcomed here.

Start date updated to ensure visibility throughout the installation

Following on from the fun we had volunteering at the Peace Doves installation in Derby Cathedral (details here and here), we are invited to be part of the team welcoming visitors to the spectacular Gaia installation running between 22nd September and 16th October.

Gaia is Luke Jerram’s touring artwork of our Earth’s surface, measuring seven metres in diameter and is accompanied by a surround sound composition by Dan Jones.

To volunteer, please follow this link and submit your details so that the Derby Cathedral team can coordinate the best session with you to match your availability. There are morning, afternoon and evening options on weekdays and weekends throughout the installation, so lots of flexibility. Take a few pictures while you’re there, then share your experience on the GoodGym website by recording your attendance either as a self-logged mission, or if you prefer to volunteer along with a friend, then record it as a community mission.
